MD Act

MD Act is a group drama and dance students from Barking & Dagenham Performing Arts College (London, UK). Working with Anthony Madonna and Julia Koelmans, the students came together for a monthlong workshop to prepare an original piece, Breathe, for the Barbican Centre’s 2018 Dialogue Festival.

Breathe explores the contradictory, but necessary, relationship between the individual and their community. Based on the conversations and experiments throughout the workshops, MD Act created a piece for spoken word, improvised voices, and movement set to a soundtrack of inflating & deflating balloons.
